ONE GUN Laws
For over 12 years, Democrats nationally and in almost every state, have tried to "limit" gun purchases to one gun a month, one a quarter, one a year, or one per household. Until 2007 when the Dems took over Congress, most of these attempts were seen as simply a sneaky form of registration, and were defeated before they even exited committee in most cases.
Not so this year! The Dems are back on a roll with over 14 state initiatives and 10 more coming, as well as at least 4 national versions in draft stage. The ONE GUN laws are INSIDIOUS, because they "sound" reasonable, but are actually a quiet way to shut down the entire gun industry!
SOUNDS Reasonable...
Dems "do the math" and say that a 21 year old can own 240 guns by the time he's 41, so what's the big deal? The big deal is, the whole idea is ONE BIG CON by the Democrats and banners...
The REAL Agenda...
1. A country with 20+ States each requiring different "purchase frequencies" is a country with over half of it's gun shops out of business in less than 2 years, as well as all internet and gun show sales. The administrative burden of keeping track of various "ticket punches" will shut down internet sales, end gun shows, and make background checking a nightmare for the average "small box" dealer, turning the industry into a conglomerate of much consolidated big boxes like Cabelas, Wal Mart and Sportsman's Warehouses. Much like other Left and Right Coast liberal havens requiring "cards" and other registration tactics, each State dealer would be so burdened that they would refuse to do internet transfers, refuse to sell anything used or inexpensive, and basically lose their entire foundation of repeat buyers.
2. It would cost taxpayers over 4.6 BILLION a year according to the US GAO to administer even a "simple" limit program, meaning you don't have to count a sale as a new opportunity to buy. If you have to track exchanges and trades, the Feds even say the system would not be feasible. This hasn't stopped Connecticut, Hawaii, California, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland and 18 other hopefuls from believing THEY can administer such a nightmare. Their answer: force dealers to keep track!!
3. Quantity controls are price controls, and like any command economy (eg: former Soviet Union), the lack of consumer choice signals will immediately begin to halt competition and put many manufacturers out of business. It will force a choice of hunting vs. tactical vs. training your kid with a .22 each month, which will very quickly destroy many of the smaller manufacturers. 4. By forcing limits, you also force registration and know which citizens own which guns. This will create a huge BLACK MARKET, further damaging legitimate dealers already struggling against insane regs. Our advice: get into knife combat, if these laws fly, you'll have to drive two hours to a "regional gun store" to buy this month's ration! 5. The Dems well know the stats: the average person who buys a gun every few years is supported by the investors/collectors who buy dozens every month. Without that minority of support, gun dealers can't stay in business, and lawmakers are telling you what you can and can't invest in! This is the fallacy of the Dem's math, and all "averages" in fact. By taking a shot at quantity per month, they are actively going after investors and collectors, NOT criminals, so the AGENDA has to be to shut down the firearms industry as we know it today.
BEAT THE NEW SYSTEM BEFORE IT GETS OFF THE GROUND... By getting your HOME FFL license, you will be grandfathered against ANY state or federal limit laws until America's 85 million gun owners can get a new Republican President in office in 2008!
